Pinterest Image Downloader: Save Pins in Available Quality
Learn how to download Pinterest images in the highest available quality: resolution tiers, 736x vs original source files, and creator copyright.
Direct Answer & Technical Recommendation
Pinterest stores image Pins in standardized width tiers on i.pinimg.com (such as 236x for grid feeds, 474x for mobile, and 736x for standard full view). An image downloader inspects public Pin metadata to locate the original master upload URL (originals/ path) to deliver the highest available JPEG resolution.
Pinterest Image Resolution Hierarchy
When a creator uploads an image Pin, Pinterest's image pipeline generates multiple scaled versions hosted on `i.pinimg.com`: - **236x (`/236x/`):** Standard grid thumbnail used in search results. - **474x (`/474x/`):** Medium resolution used in mobile feeds. - **736x (`/736x/`):** Standard full-width preview displayed when opening a Pin on desktop. - **Originals (`/originals/`):** The unconstrained original resolution uploaded by the creator.
The /originals/ CDN Path Explained
Many download tools mistakenly save the lower-resolution 736px preview image. SnapAny inspects the image URL structure and replaces the preview width parameter with `/originals/`, giving users direct access to the highest-resolution master file preserved on Pinterest servers.
Native Mobile In-App Image Download
You can also save images natively inside the Pinterest mobile app: 1. Tap on the Pin to view it full screen. 2. Tap the **three dots (`...`)** menu in the top-right corner. 3. Tap **Download image**. 4. The image saves directly to your smartphone's Photos app or gallery.
Copyright and Image Attribution
Pinterest is a platform for inspiration and mood boards. Saving an image to your computer for personal reference or offline mood boarding is normal, but re-uploading an artist's illustration or commercial product photo to another platform without permission violates copyright law. Always credit original artists and photographers.
